One of my doc's recently said, "Medically speaking, there is no explanation for why Fredrick is still alive." He believes too my mom's spirit and love has willed me to live. Nearly 24 years ago, I was born extremely pre-mature and remained in the NICU for 8.5 months. My birth weight was an astounding 728 grams. I live life with cerebral palsy (tri-pilegic), epilepsy, frontal lobe disorder and respiratory disease as well a wicked sense of humor.
By insurance guidelines I have aged-out of some services, especially therapy. However, my mom has been struggling since my 21st birthday to continue the physical therapy and other services. My health and personal needs require 24-hour care and my mom is no longer able to work outside our home and is limited greatly by my emotional needs for a home business... (Believe me, she has tried many times; the frontal lobe disorder stuff is challenging.) My tenacity to walk and live life in my normal is mirrored only by this lady's personal sacrafice to bring peace and quality to her son's life. She hates asking for help... but someone suggested just this morning, perhaps the time has come to place Fredrick's needs above your pride and told her about this site. She is sitting here with tears flowing because it is difficult to accept this is where God has allowed the journey to take her. Perhaps she is simply running out of her own steam... Afterall, her struggle with insurance companies, schools, etc., to advocate for me out of her love, has been a long road.
