"It is with a very heavy heart, that I thank all of you who have reached out to me I just wanted to let you know that the fatality on highway 70 last night was my oldest son and that I know that he did not suffer and I know that God is ever in control of what is going on in my life I thank you so very much for the support and I feel the prayers and I feel the love and I have a sure knowledge that Travis and I will be together again in the blink of an eye ."
The above paragraph are the words of a grieving mother. Her son 37 year old Travis Skyberg from Oroville CA , was attempting to retrieve his two dogs on State Highway 70, just north of Power House Hill Road. One of the dogs ran onto the southbound lane of Highway 70 and Travis followed. While attempting to retrieve his dog from the slow lane, he was struck by two vehicles that were traveling southbound. Both vehicles and several other motorist stopped to assist. Travis party suffered fatal injuries as a result of this collision.
Travis was the father of three young sons who he loved and adored.
Kay Manley the mother of Travis, sat on the side of the Highway for four hours till first responders and law enforcement could remove her sons body to be taken to the hospital for processing. Her life is upside down.
A survivor of the terrible Campfire of 2018 Kay and her family lost everything and her son and grandsons almost didnt make it out alive.
Kays other son had an infant son die from SIDS in 2019. Now another tragic accident has befallen her.
Kay may have to rehome the dogs Travis lost his life for because she has no money for funeral and burial expenses and has now lost the income that Travis brought into the household that helped pay the rent.
Lets show our community support for this grieving mother as she tries to once again pick up the pieces of her shattered life.
Funds will go to burial and funeral expenses first and remainder will go to help keep the home so the dogs wont have to be rehomed.
