Dylan Kenny's Medical Fund

My husband, David, started a non-profit called ByYourSide, which was started to help families with sick children.  The families that ByYourSide helps are families that are not financially able to keep paying the bills and providing for their family during their sick child's illness.  In many cases, the parents need to keep working to pay their bills.  ByYourSide helps to assist with paying those bills so that the parents can remain at their child's bedside during this very difficult time. We know from personal stories, this is where the child wants their Mom or Dad...right at their side.

We believe that when a parent has a very sick child, the last burden of worry they need on them is "how are they going to pay this month's mortgage".  We have dealt with many families that live from paycheck to paycheck and are only one paycheck away from not having enough food in the fridge, gas in the car to take the child back and forth to chemo appointments, electric or water bills are only days from being shut off unless a minimum is paid...

I think you see the picture I am trying to paint for you.

The thing is, we can only help someone to a certain extent on our own.  On a personal level, we are self employed and own a small electrical contracting company.  The wire we collect is sold as scrap.  100% of all the scrap money collected, we turn over to ByYourSide.

We need help from generous and giving people like you who understand that it's important to reach out and help others.  No matter what amount the donation may be, we are very appreciative to receive it.  A little from many can add up to a whole lot.  Then again, some are able to give more.

ByYourSide is 100% volunteer driven.  That means, nobody is compensated with money.  100% of the donations go right to the child and his or her family!

Your donation is also tax-deductible because ByYourSide is a recognized Charity with the IRS.

We will need your full name and complete address to send your tax-deductible receipt if you would like one sent to you.

NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT WHAT WE ARE DOING:

My sister-in-law and I are running a Marathon!  The Akron Rubber City Marathon takes place September 26, 2015 at 7AM.
ByYourSide is running to sponser Dylan Kenny and his family.  This is Dylan's 3rd bout with this horrible monster called Ewings Sarcoma (a cancerous bone tumor), that has put so much on him and his family.  You can imagine the amount of stress and financial burdens they have all gone through.
Please read on to hear about Dylan from his Mother, Jeanette Kenny.

As of today, Dylan has relapsed once again with Ewings Sarcoma. Dylan has been battling this horrible cancer since 2012.  His first treatment started September 6th 2012 through September 18th 2013 with chemo proton radiation and photon radiation.  Dylan was NED (no evidence of disease) for exactly 10 months.  He went for his 3 month scans in July of 2014,  when they saw he had relapsed with 15 mets to his lungs,  he began another regimen of Chemo July 23rd 2014 through December 13th 2014.  Dylan also had a STEM CELL TRANSPLANT on January 22nd 2015.  During all of this, Dylan alsodeveloped Peripheal Neuropathy due to the chemo and the tumor that is in his right pelvic area, which is wrapped around his sciatic nerve.  Dylan will need a full hip replacement once he is fully grown.  He is in pain every day! He used to be able to run,  ride a bike-- he loved outdoors quad riding!  He is limited in his ability to walk as much, due to the severe limp he has.
We had Dylan in the ER on June 28th 2015 at the hospital where all of his treatments are, which is 1 & 1/2 hours away from us in Delaware.  The hospital is AI duPont/Nemours children hospital in Wilmington Delaware.  We took him there because he had stepped on a rock and cut his foot.  It wasn't bad but he did have red lines coming from the cut.  He also had been on antibiotics for a cold he had for a few weeks.  Dylan was then admitted in the hospital for cellulitis and was on IV antibiotics, he also has a chest xray and apparently something caught their eye so they ordered a CT of his lungs. On July 1st we were told Dylan had relapsed again with Ewings Sarcoma.  He had to have an MRI done also to see if there was activity in where his main tumor was.  (Thank God there was not) He only had 1 nodule on his lower right lobe of his lung.   On July 13th, Dylan went into surgery to remove the nodule from his lung --a surgery that was only to take 2& 1/2 hours-- took over 5 hours and 3 portions of his lower right lobe of his lung. Dylan went into the hospital yesterday to get a CT Echo and EKG so he was ready to start Chemo once again today Aug 5th- 2015.   He had his port placed today and chemo starts today he will be inpatient for 5 days every 2 weeks with this chemo protocol.  We have also learned from yesterdays CT that within 3 & 1/2 weeks time he has new spots on his lungs.  2 of those spots are about 1 centimeter in size with other tiny spots. Dylan just turned 13 on July 30th he has not been in school since he was 9 years old. He has been battling this beast since he was 9 yrs old, we didn't know he had cancer until Aug 30th 2012.
