Byron Brace (1955 - 2023)
Chico, California bids farewell to an exceptional soul, Byron Brace, whose departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew him. Byron Brace passed away peacefully at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy that resonates throughout the community and beyond.
Born in Woodland Hills CA, Byron's love for nature flourished early in life, eventually shaping his profound dedication to preserving the natural wonders of his beloved town's Bidwell Park (Chico CA), and various state and national parks throughout the west coast states. His journey as a Park Ranger began with a passion for environmental conservation that knew no bounds. Byron's tenure as a steward of nature spanned over 10 years, during which he devoted himself tirelessly to the care and protection of parklands.
His service as a Park Ranger extended far beyond the boundaries of a job description; it was a testament to his unwavering commitment and humble spirit. Byron's profound impact was felt by all who crossed paths with him. He greeted visitors with warmth and enthusiasm, eager to impart his extensive knowledge of the park's flora, fauna, and conservation practices.
Byron Brace's humor and enthusiasm was as remarkable as his dedication. His selfless contributions went largely unheralded, as he preferred the quiet satisfaction of knowing he made a difference rather than seeking recognition. He was revered by colleagues, community members, and visitors alike for his genuine kindness, unwavering dedication, and profound wisdom.
His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the environmental awareness he instilled, and the enduring beauty of the parks he so fervently protected. Byron Brace's departure leaves behind a community united in grief but also inspired by his exemplary life.
A memorial service will be held at a soon to be determined date, providing an opportunity for family, friends, and those whose lives he touched to come together to honor and celebrate Byron's remarkable life.
In lieu of his passing, the family is asking for donations to be made to his only son (Benjamin Alan Brace). It will be difficult navigating through this time for him. He's approaching his final semester of college, and is taking considerable unpaid time off of work to deal with important matters regarding his dads passing. He would be very appreciative of any financial support during this time if possible.
Byron Brace will forever be remembered for his humor, his loving spirit, tender heart, love of family and friends, and is passion for adventure. His spirit will continue to flourish within the tranquil beauty of California's parks and recreational areas.
"Into the embrace of nature, he returned, leaving footprints of wisdom and love that time will never erase."
Rest in peace, Byron Brace.
