Byron Bay eBike Shop Fire - Help Us Rebuild

We've built Freedom machine bike store on a simple principle: helping people embrace e-mobility and get off the roads. We service bikes, we sell them and rent them. In the past we would only service reputable brand's batteries, but we made the decision to expand and help more of our community even if it meant taking on higher risks.

On what seemed like a normal day, a customer came in with a faulty battery needing repair. We did what we do best: tried to help. We put the battery on charge to test it, hoping to get their bike back on the road.

Then it happened. The battery exploded.

The blast was catastrophic and positioned right next to our fire extinguisher, making it impossible to reach. What followed was a chain reaction we couldn't stop. In minutes, everything was gone. Our entire inventory. Our tools. Our workspace. Our computers..... Everything.

Due to the nature of the fire, insurance won't cover it. There's no relief fund. There's no safety net.

This business isn't just our job, it's our life. We don't own a house. Every dollar we've ever made has been reinvested back into the shop to try and grow and serve our community better.

We believe in e-mobility. We believe in helping people ride to work, have fun, and choose sustainable transport. We want to rebuild and continue that mission. Moving forward, we'll implement strict battery policies. only servicing batteries from reputable manufacturers.
We're asking for your help to get back on our feet. Your support means everything.
