Byron Saari was diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer in October 2010. He is married to Mary (Rouse) Saari. Their children are Jason Saari(Ashley), Stacy Aho(Victor Jr.) & Joshua Saari(Emnet). They have 15 grandchildren and live in Hurley, WI. Here is a brief history of his treatment:
* October 2010 surgery in Wausau, WI followed by 6 weeks of chemotherapy & radiation
* February 2011 surgery to remove tumor
* Referred to Rochester, MN for 6 weeks of chemo & radiation
* April 2011 surgery in Rochester
* March 2013 several weeks of infusions for a bone infection
* Spring 2015 cancer surgery in Rochester, MN followed by chemo & radiation
* October 2019 cancer returns
* Summer of 2020 port infection & infection in the blood
* Chemo discontinued
Throughout this 10 year battle Byron’s faith and trust in the Lord Jesus has remained strong. He has been an encouragement to many with his positive attitude and acceptance of the Lord’s will.
