Support The Matthews Family as 18-year-old Cain undergoes lifesaving treatment in Specialist Tropical disease unit in London

In November 2022 Cain became seriously ill with a cyst the size of a football discovered on his spleen, the cause was unknown but the brilliant team at the Royal hospital in Belfast managed to stabilise him whilst he underwent test after test.
To our family's horror it has been discovered Cain picked up a rare parasite when on holiday abroad when he was just 5 years old. This Parasite has attached itself to his spleen and has made Cain incredibly ill, it is currently compressing his vital organs.

Currently being treated with Chemotherapy to kill the parasite, Cain now has to travel to London to The Royal London infectious disease hospital for life-saving surgery. He will be in hospital for up to 8 weeks post-operation to recover. As a family, we would like to travel and be with Cain in London at this awful time for our family.

Any donations will be used to allow Nicola and Gary to be with Cain in London as he fights this horrific illness, we will of course keep this page updated with his progress.

Thank You
Nicola, Gary and Cain
