As many of you know, my brother-in-law Denys' home is Kharkiv, Ukraine. Tragically and senselessly, Russian aggression, which has escalated to war and occupation of broader Ukrainian territories, has left his home and that of his sisters,
Nadiya and Katiya destroyed and unsafe. Along with his family, approximately 12.8 million people in Ukraine are displaced, 7 million within the country. Unfortunately, the genocidal intention associated with much of the violence has made existence within Ukraine exceptionally hard. Fortunately, both Nadiya and Katiya were able to leave Kharkiv. At present, Katiya is sheltering in a small village outside of Dnipro with her three-year-old son Kirill and her husband’s family. Andrea and Denys continue to provide financial assistance to them while they are sheltering in place.
Some great news!! Nadiya was able to make it to Latvia and recently obtained a travel visa with help and guidance from knowledgable family members who assisted them in navigating this tenuous process. Nadiya she is now living with Andrea and Denys and their 3 children.
Denys and Andrea are not accustomed to asking for help and are deeply aware of their privilege and the blessing of their safety, home and family. Because many have asked how they might offer support for family during this time, we are setting up this Go Fund Me to provide resources to Katiya and her family while they cannot work, in additional to costs associated with immigration process and to help Nadiya get established here.
Your support will assist Andrea and Denys in absorbing both short and long-term costs of supporting their family through this crisis. The money donated will go towards attorney fees, clothing, food and shelter both here in the US and into Denys' remaining family in Ukraine.
Your prayers and messages of support are appreciated immensely. May the world know peace!
