We are here to support our friend, Shannon. Recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, she is now undergoing treatment and fighting to beat her cancer. We are here to make sure that during this time Shannon can focus on getting better, with no worries about bills or taking time off from work.
Shannon has always been a kind, generous and happy energy and we are more than happy to return the favor to her now!
A few words from Shannon on her diagnosis:
“So it's about time I come clean. At the end of June I was working, and I felt some neck pain. It was annoying me, so I took two fingers and massaged my neck. I felt a lump.. The anxiety overwhelmed me, but I continued to finish out the rest of my shift.. Fast forward to the following weekend, I looked in the mirror, and could literally see my neck was extremely swollen, so I panicked, and rushed to urgent care with Jordan. Sitting in a waiting room for over an hour, I was finally seen and then sent home with a script for antibiotics and was told to follow up with my PCP the following Monday. I saw my PCP, and got the call that Friday that broke my heart. She told me she thought it was a Lymphoma. She set up a meeting with an Oncologist, followed by multiple scans, ultra sounds, xrays, and a surgery. Everything was happening so quickly, which made me nervous. Finally, I got the results. I have stage 3 Classic Hodgkins Lymphoma. I know it sounds scary, but I have the BEST team of people working with me to help fight this, Including a boyfriend, who has been spoiling me even more than usual. My Oncologist is extremely impressed with how I am responding to treatment, and we are going to do a PET scan in 2 months to see what kind of progress we have made. Even though it's stage 3, I have a 97% success rate. I'm going to beat this.
Moral of my story is, If you find a change in your body, get it checked out! It could save your life. It saved mine.
I am so thankful for each and every one of you <3”
