Dear friends & strangers,

Last year, a good friend of mine, Velina, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Over the last 10 months or so, she has undergone surgery, chemotherapy and most recently completed 28 rounds of radiation.

Velina is a professor of writing, critical thinking, and other practices of freedom at NYU and Pratt, she is a poet, a txt messenger of random and not so random voice recordings of daily occurrences and on occasion, voice recordings of sudden burst of operatic songs. She is an activist of many causes, an aspiring stand up comedian, she is kind, full of compassionate energy and an avid tennis player - let’s go Grigor!

This film is inspired by Velina’s journey

navigating treatment, but re-imagined through highly unconventional and experimental storytelling methods coming to you via the brain of yours truly and Velina’s own voice as she taps into her inner Agent Cooper from David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. This story pulls on the strange, eccentric, the gentle and mysterious commentary on life through a rotating door of offbeat characters.

We’re slated to have set build and pre-light days on 5/3 & 5/4 and principal photography on 5/5 & 5/6.

The funds raised here will cover the cost of our location fees, our production design and set fees, costume fees, crew meals, transportation, equipment fees and rentals, post-production fees, and hopefully some kind of crew and cast compensation. Right now, we are counting on the generosity of our community to come through and volunteer their talents and time, if we raise enough past the very basic needs, like location, set, costume, gear and meals, we will distribute whatever extra is raised toward our loving crew.
