Bryan Russ Family Support

B-Russ has done it again!  He has escaped death, but unfortunately he did not escape injury.  Yesterday Bryan fell off of the roof of a 2 story house and broke his neck and 2 thoracic vertebrae.  He miraculously did not injure his spinal cord and has no current signs of paralysis. We are all incredibly grateful.  As many of you know, only a year ago, he overcame great odds after being hospitalized due to an infection that turned Septic, meaning his immune system was attacking his body.  While in the hospital being treated for the Sepsis and the unidentified infection, he also developed ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome); this condition is caused when fluid fills your lungs leaving little to no room for air.  It is often fatal. He was put into a medically induced coma and ventilated for a week, not knowing if he would ever wake up again. All of this was severely complicated by the fact that he has Leukemia.  After Bryan fought with all he had and many, many prayers were answered, he was well enough to return home, but spent many months at home recovering from physical effects and trauma of that experience and was unable to work.

Those of you who know Bryan, know that he has in extremely positive attitude and amazing sense of humor about all of this, and about life and its challenges in general, so it is no surprise that he, and his wife Amanda, are facing this new trial with more faith, strength, and determination than most of us can imagine, but the reality is that it will be another long period of recovery and healing for Bryan and his family.  Throughout all of this, they have remained independent of financial help from anyone. They are still very reluctant to allow us to ask for help on their behalf, but having such life altering experiences happen so close together has taken its toll. Since last year, especially when Bryan was in the hospital, and now as people are hearing of his fall and serious injuries, many people have offered and are asking how they can help.  So our family is asking you to help Bryan’s family get through many more difficult months by giving anything you are able.

We will keep you updated as we find out more.  Thank you all for your love and support!
