The concept:

California Sexy is a transgressive body-horror short film set in a knackered tanning salon in the West Country, bustling with overexposed bimbos, overly orange old ladies, and overworked beauticians selling cheap sex appeal.

When Trudy, a hardcore salon regular with big hair and even bigger delusions, is forgotten and left to fry on the tanning bed, the salon tips from chaotic comedy into sexploitation madness. Reality fractures into a sleazy fantasy of trashy women’s lifestyle magazines and Slavic Boyband obsession; desire becomes addictive. What begins as workplace chaos curdles into a bad day in Bosnia, with violent revenge and a verbal slaughterhouse.

This film blends camp horror, surrealism, and musical elements, to explore sex appeal, consumer culture, and the lengths we will go to become “California sexy.”
