Last night, tragedy struck in Hamlin, NY, when the Wright family’s home, their safe haven, was destroyed in an unexpected electrical fire.
In her own words, Stephanie shared:
“Last night, my biggest fear happened…. I was woken out of my sleep by my husband (he was awake playing video games) to our house being set on fire due to an electrical problem outside that we had no idea about. We lost a significant amount of our belongings, and our castle/safe space was destroyed. I am so thankful for my neighbors who quickly ran over to us — I couldn’t be more grateful to have such wonderful humans around us. We lost 19 years' worth of things, and it’s devastating, to say the least. It’s going to be a long journey to try to rebuild our home and purchase new items. I am so thankful my family got out safely due to my husband’s quick reaction and my dogs due to my stubbornness in not letting them stay.”
While Stephanie, Jeremy, their children, and all their animals are thankfully safe, they have lost nearly everything, cherished memories, personal belongings, and the place they called home. Their house is not inhabitable, and they are now displaced as they begin the long, emotional process of rebuilding their lives.
The Wrights are the kind of family that always shows up for others, the first to lend a helping hand, open their doors, or offer support when someone else is in need. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
Insurance will eventually help, but as many of us know, that process can take time. They require immediate assistance with essentials such as clothing, food, temporary housing, and daily necessities.
If you’re able, please consider donating to help the Wright family get back on their feet. Every dollar will make a difference in helping them rebuild what was lost.
