The Smith Family-Felicia, Daniel, & Jaxson

Our family has been struggling with many different concerns related to Daniel’s continuing health issues and we are humbly asking for your help.

Right now we are approximately two months from losing our home. The bureaucratic process to access disability benefits is slow to say the least. We have retained an attorney who is helping, but that takes time. We continue to try to access housing and other benefits to no avail. Felicia’s employment within the special education department precludes her from seeking additional employment, but that career path has blessed the family with insurance coverage and the flexibility of being able to attend Daniel’s many medical appointments during the week.

Daniel has worked incredibly hard to make progress in his health goals. He is no longer insulin dependent and makes valiant efforts to find ways to stay mobile without triggering spasms. While he was once an active father to Jaxson, Daniel has had to pull back from doing normal things a father and son do. Jax understands that his dad is working hard to get better, but witnessing his father’s struggles has been incredibly tough on him. We are awaiting more information about a specialist with expertise in Stiff Person Syndrome located in Minnesota, but at this time that goal is not financially feasible.

We have exhausted seemingly every avenue in order to stay afloat. We turn to our loving community of family and friends for help now.
