Help Karen become Financially Stable after a Work Injury!

Donation protected
Hi everyone. My name is Karen, and I’m asking for help because my health and financial stability have taken a serious hit. I am falling behind on necessities like housing and everyday costs.

I’m a private person, so sharing this is difficult. However, I’m choosing to speak up because I truly need support to stabilize and stay on my feet. I am close to financial stability after exiting a domestic violence situation. All support would go a long way.

Update 12/29/25
Main priority: I am currently focused on securing cheaper housing at the moment and will prioritize using the funds to move.
My initial timeline was to gain funds to pay off rent for December by 12/25 and for January by 1/1, which would have totaled ≈ $3650
I still need to pay about $1824 + late fees for Dec rent and the amount I stay in January

TLDR; Quick Summary
I’m raising funds because I’m living with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that causes widespread pain, fatigue, and nervous system dysregulation, and it has made it hard to function consistently and maintain a stable income. I’ve spent years trying to get consistent care, and after a workplace injury on April 1, my physical and mental health symptoms intensified, creating a level of instability I can’t “push through” anymore. Because so much of my struggle has happened with personal relationships, I was forced into silence for a long time. I’m breaking that silence now and choosing to live in my truth. Your support will help me stay housed and cover essential costs, such as medical care, treatment, transportation, and basic living expenses, while I stabilize and continue moving forward.

Fibromyalgia Awareness
I live with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that causes widespread pain, fatigue, and nervous system dysregulation. I’ve been navigating the healthcare system for years, trying to get the right care and consistent treatment. I also want to share, as part of fibromyalgia awareness, that I am a survivor. It happened when I was 17, in my own home. Because it happened at home, I was forced into silence for a long time. Breaking that silence is part of my healing, and Jesus has taught me to live in the truth, not in shame. Shortly after, I developed fibromyalgia, and it has shaped my health and nervous system in lasting ways. I also want to name that many people with fibromyalgia experience PTSD symptoms, and trauma can intensify chronic pain and nervous system dysregulation. I had a period of improvement, but it returned strongly around age 25. Since then, I’ve worked hard to manage it through treatment, therapy, and daily routines, but it still limits how consistently I can function and maintain income. Living with an “invisible” condition is exhausting, and getting appropriate medical support can be much harder than people realize. Trauma can affect the body long-term, and it can complicate both symptoms and access to care.

⚠️ Workplace Accident - April 1, 2025 ⚠️
On April 1, 2025, I had a workplace accident that caused a head injury. Since then, I’ve been dealing with post-concussion symptoms, a major increase in migraines, and neurological issues. My fibromyalgia symptoms have also worsened after I had made significant progress. I have missed substantial work due to this injury, and it has directly contributed to my current financial crisis. I’m pursuing appropriate medical treatment, but recovery has been slow, complicated, and expensive.

I rely on my car to get to work and medical appointments. During a period when my headaches and neurological symptoms were especially intense, I was also in a minor car accident. Thankfully, it wasn’t worse, but it was a wake-up call about how urgently I need consistent treatment and stability. I’m trying to keep my car stable and legal, including catching up on car-related costs like payments and overdue registration, so I can continue working and accessing medical care.

Before the injury, I was working two jobs and still living paycheck to paycheck. Since the injury, I’ve fallen behind and taken on debt I can’t manage. I’m trying to protect my housing stability because it is essential for my health.

Funds raised will go toward:
  • Immediate stability: Rent, essential bills, and minimum debt payments
  • Recovery and care: Medical expenses for my workplace injury, migraines, and treatment, plus veterinary care for my senior dog
  • Work and transportation: Car-related costs (payments and overdue registration) and required exam fees to complete my teaching credential

Main Goal:
Over the next two months, my goal is to stabilize. That means staying housed (which includes finding cheaper housing), receiving consistent medical treatment, paying off urgent bills, and creating a small buffer so that one emergency doesn’t put me back at zero. I’m also actively looking for resources and looking for consistent employment.

How to help:
If you’re able to donate or share, it would help me get through this period and rebuild stability while I recover and return to consistent work.

Additionally, if you know of any community resources, medical support programs, or domestic violence survivor resources, I would be grateful. Please message me through GoFundMe with any suggestions.

Thank you for reading, for believing me, and for any support you can offer.

Gratitude
I want to shout my brother Jorge, my sister Nora, my Tia Paty, my abuelita Humbertina, my prima Kimberly, my mentor & friend Luis, as well as many other friends who held me throughout this journey called life. I would not be here without your unconditional love and support.

To my church community:
Importantly, I’m deeply grateful to my church family for the love, prayers, and support that have carried me through this season. Truly, without Jesus Christ, I don’t think I would have made it through the last two years, and I’m holding onto Him and this community as I work to rebuild and recover. As I recover, my intention is not only to regain stability but to eventually pay it forward by helping others who need support. (IG: @cityofangelsicc)

Verses about supporting each other

  • “Love one another… By this everyone will know that you are my disciples.” (John 13:34–35)
  • “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” (Matthew 7:12)
  • “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Luke 6:31)

The verse that always brings me comfort
“The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.” (Psalm 23:1)

God has always provided for me in the wilderness. I have faith that I will stay housed and have meals. ❤️‍
