**UPDATE ** 12/12
Mark has had more medical situations that have sent him back to the hospital for tests and care. He has been diagnosed with Melanoma and will require surgery in the coming weeks. He continues to be treated for Lymphoma, day 17 post CarT infusion. Also, continuation of Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy and many other infusions. He has been in a lot of pain, some days better than others. Please pray the Pet Scan on Thursday(December 18th) will bring good news! Thank you for all the calls, text, prayers and financial help during these trials. Mark sends his love to each of you!
With much appreciation,
Mark and Carol
***UPDATE*** 11/5
Mark is getting a second line of immuno Therapy, bio specific s and other chemical treatments. When we come back he will began getting his body ready for the third line treatment (Car-T infusion) . We will be in Houston for around 7 weeks? Give or take, at that time. This has been really difficult for him and myself, as he has been in and out of the hospital, having reaction to Glofitamab infusions. He will be in the hospital for a couple of weeks at the very least, when we return in 10 days, and then have to stay near the hospital for another 30 days . Thank you all for the text, phone calls and mostly your prayers! Mark will have a Pet Scan as soon as we return to see if he is responding to treatments. The hardest is yet to come, as he has his programmed cells infusion to try and fight the cancer cells. This is all within a Clinical Trial at MD Anderson Cancer Clinic. Mark is fighting for his life and we appreciate that you are supporting him at this crucial time!
Please continue to pray and share as financial means continue to be needed.
Much appreciation, Carol and Mark
Update: Continuing Treatment at MD Anderson
We’ve been under the care of MD Anderson Cancer Center for the past two weeks, and the second line of treatment is underway. It’s been a tough road, but Mark is doing his best to stay positive and focused on each step forward.
His CAR-T therapy is scheduled to continue on November 23, and this will be the most critical phase of his treatments. We’re holding onto hope and praying that this will be the turning point we’ve all been waiting for.
In the meantime, he continues chemotherapy every seven days, which means long stretches in the hospital — 24 hours or more when complications arise (and we’ve already had a few).
Through all of this, one bright spot has been the incredible team at MD Anderson. Their compassion, professionalism, and expertise have given us complete confidence in the care he’s receiving. It’s a comfort to know he’s exactly where he needs to be.
We’re living out of suitcases, bouncing between hospital rooms and whatever short-term lodging we can find for the in-between days. It’s exhausting, but we’re taking it one day at a time.
We can’t thank you enough for the outpouring of support — the donations, the messages, the calls, and the prayers. Your kindness has carried us through the hardest moments, and we’re so grateful to have you in our corner.
Life has changed in ways we never expected, but we’re still praying for a brighter future — and believing that brighter days are ahead.
With love and gratitude,
Carol and Mark
I am raising these funds for Mark Drews who is battling Stage 4 Large B-Cell non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Anyone that knows Mark knows that he has put his heart into his work and into his family and is now in a fight for his life. Over the years, he’s built long-term relationships with clients based on friendship and hard work. He has cherished every moment spent with his kids and his grandchildren. He has had more energy for life than an Energizer Bunny.
His recent diagnosis: In February, Mark was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (late stage). He underwent six rounds of chemotherapy at Mobile Infirmary, but the cancer did not respond—on the contrary, it’s now growing even more aggressively in his liver and abdomen.
We’ve consulted with specialists at MD Anderson, and there is one more possible treatment option: CAR-T therapy. His chance of survival is not guaranteed, but it will give him a real fighting chance (oncologists say optimistically 50%). Without this treatment, doctors estimate Mark may only have a few months left (3-6 months), but with it, we’re hopeful for more time together.
What’s next & what we need: To proceed with CAR-T, he’ll need to be in Houston for a period of time—with his wife Carol by his side. That means:
• More medical and treatment-related bills (insurance doesn’t cover all of this)
• Housing, travel, daily living expenses in Houston
• Loss of income from time off work
• Ongoing bills at home (rent, utilities, car, etc.)
Because this journey started over 8 months ago, the financial strain has stacked up and Mark needs your help. If you are in a position to help, your donations will be used to cover the medical treatment costs, travel and lodging expenses to support the stay at MD Anderson, and living expenses to replace the lost income while Mark and Carol are unable to work during treatment.
Thank you: This battle is physical, emotional, and financial. Support is needed financially, but we need PRAYERS, positivity, and community, too.
When you’re healthy, you don’t always think about how much community means. We’re waking up every day now with that clarity. Mark is ready to fight for his family, his friends, and his life — and this treatment gives us hope that his fight will lead to more time and brighter days ahead. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your generosity.
