Help the voiceless, the injured, the abused, the abandoned

“When I walked into Isabel's backyard, I was hit by a wave of heartbreak. Ive never seen so much suffering in my life! There was dogs everywhere, most of them in the worst conditions, some with half their faces bitten off from street fights, some with big cancer lumps on their bodies and others so skinny you could see every bone.”

On my travels through South America, I found an injured street dog and took it to the vets. Apparently they wouldn’t help him, because he was a stray. Thankfully, the locals connected me with Isabel, a lady who rescues animals and soon after I was in her car, heading to her home to get an understanding of her rescue.

At this point I thought it was some kind of animal shelter. Little did I realise that she dedicated her house and backyard to the animals. What I witnessed was overwhelming. With over 120 dogs and more than 20 cats living in cramped conditions, many of them sick and elderly, they desperately need help. Isabel dreams of expanding her rescue by buying a small piece of land close to her home and have enough funds to be able to pay someone to help her as at the moment it’s just her kids helping to feed and clean the animals. But right now she this isn’t the main focus, right now she urgently needs funds for dog food and medical treatments. Dogs like Maria, who needs a leg amputation, Negao, who needs medication, and Jack Norris, who is fighting eye cancer, are counting on us.

Thanks to the last charity cruise dedicated to her, I’ve seen how our support can make a real difference. Isabel has been out on the streets catching stray dogs, taking them to the vet, getting them de-sexed and caring for them until they’re ready to go back. But she can only keep so many, focusing on those who need the most help.

Isabel’s journey is one of resilience; as a former drug addict, she credits these animals with saving her life! Without them she wouldn’t be here anymore she says. Now she’s committed to saving them, but she can’t do it alone. Every dollar we raise will have a huge impact.

I’ll be returning back to visit her in 2026 to continue this mission and will keep everyone updated on the movements and what the donations are used for.
I’m asking you all to help me help isabel to save the ones that can’t help themselves
Together, we can make a difference! Only because of our last few charity events, she could keep going the last couple years and hopefully one day we can expand and relocate.
