I started this campaign for my parents, Kerry and Teresa Bellamy. They moved to Paradise almost 5 years ago to be closer to my family and I. They lost everything the day of the fire, my dad was out of town working. My mom is disabled and together, we just didn't have enough time to save much of anything before the fire hit their neighborhood. Any donations or shares are appreciated.
This is the Story of our day, the day the Camp Fire started.
On the morning of 11/8/2018 our lives were turned upside down. When I left my house that morning I saw a fire in the Canyon by our town of Paradise Ca. I called my mom and told her I thought that it was closer to her than me and to get her papers and medication together and come to my house so if we had to leave, we were all together. I drove up the hill to Magalia to take my 2 younger kids to school. I for some reason was thinking they'd be safe there. When I got to the school I realized just how much trouble we were in. At this time my husband's friend had called him and said get off the ridge now, they are starting evacuations. The kids and I rushed home. My husband was already at work in Chico. I called my mom and told her she needed to get to my house now! On the way home I saw that the flames had come up over the ridge and we needed to get out. When I got home, the sky was dark and the phone was ringing, it was a code red alert saying to leave now! I grabbed nothing, as my 15 year old daughter kept it together for all of us, and grabbed pictures and my fathers ashes. She loaded the Animal's in the car, got her brother and sister into the car, and got all of our medicines gathered and packed. We left to evac my mom as the neighbors houses were catching on fire and officers were banging on doors. The orchards were on fire, the hospital was on fire and we were racing to get my mom. I was calling my friend Melissa telling her I didn't know where to go. She said go up, go to my house. So I drove from my house on upper Pentz by Skyway, down to lower Pentz by Pearson to get my mom. She loaded her dogs into her car and a couple bags of clothes and papers and we headed out. I knew we would not get back up Pentz since it was on fire, so we headed down Pearson. I turned onto Sawmill and headed back up to Magalia. There was fire on both sides of the road. The fire was in town now. It was dark, pitch black dark. The smoke was thick and coming into the car. I had the kids cover their mouths with their shirts. I turned onto Bille, the fire was behind us. We headed to clark. The roads were quiet, but there was car parts littering the road from accidents that were there previously. The house next to the Theater was on fire and a woman was watering the road. I yelled at her to stop and get going. We got to the Cabernet turn off and saw Adam turning towards home. I called him and told him to get his guns, our small safes and get out. We headed to Magalia, I looked down the Skyway and saw it on fire. The fire was now deep into town. There was fire on both sides of the road in the S tirns separating New and old Skyway. We made it to Melissa's house in upper Magalia. My neighbors mom called, she couldn't get him to answer his phone. I called Adam and Adam stopped grabbing our things to go get him up, it was 8:00am. He banged on the door for what felt like forever before Andrew answered it. Adam told him to get going, as he headed home to finish grabbing things, he saw the fire approaching. He got in his truck with what little he had and he tried to leave. It was 2 hours till I saw my husband. When he got there he said everything was on fire. He barely got out of the house, a train of cars was blocking the driveway, one broke down giving him an exit as a wall of fire was approaching our house. He left in such a hurry that he left his things in his other truck and we lost everything else to the fire. My Parents beautiful home, our home, everything we own was taken by the fire. My mom, my husband and our 3 kids, 3 dogs and 2 of our 3 cats were evacuated 3 times that day. We had to leave the Magalia house, and then the Cal Park house we went to after that. We have been blessed with amazing friends who have opened their hearts amd home to us.
Melissa wasn't able to get home, so we also evacuated her doggo and Grandma from their house when we left there.
My Step dad was in Quincy working when this all happened. He said it was the longest day of his life, worrying about mom and I. My dad isn't one to ask for money from anyone, ever, but they are finding that the expense of losing everything, is going to cost them a lot, long before the insurance company can get in and assess the loss, and start to make payments on things. Anything helps, My dad is always the one taking care of everything, for everyone, I think he is deserving of a little help, even if he won't ask for himself.
