Miles for Macmillan: 10 Mile Peak District Challenge
Last year, my incredible mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Southmead Hospital and those at Macmillan Cancer Support acted quickly and she was in surgery within weeks of diagnosis. In October 2024 (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), she finished her radiotherapy and it feels as though this difficult chapter is now behind us.
Anyone who knows me knows my mum is my best friend and if anything, this period has shown me even more just how amazing she is. She is the strongest, most positive person I know. She took this diagnosis in her stride and didn’t let it get her or the rest of the family down.
To raise money for Macmillan, in July/August (exact date TBC - weather dependent!), we will be hiking 10 miles through the Peak District - starting and finishing in Castleton, a place that is very special to Mum and I. The hike includes trekking up Lose Hill, Back Tor, Barker Bank, the Great Ride and finally Mam Tor before descending back to Castleton village - where we will celebrate with something covered in gravy and Henderson's relish!
Any donations made to an important cause will be appreciated :)
