The Bwoga Elementary Library (BEL) Initiative Fund
Donation protected
The mission of the Bwoga Elementary Library (BEL) project is to build a library in Bwoga, a rural community in western Uganda, and equip it with books, computers, and staff so that Bwoga children may have a resourceful place where they can access books, and other opportunities to help them develop useful life skills.
Though a remote place, Bwoga is endowed with many wonderful things including natural beauty, friendly people, and tasty foods! However, many of Bwoga’s children lack essential opportunities that would help them develop important life skills. For example, the community has only one school—Bwoga Elementary. Consequently, many Bwoga children walk far to school, miss school a lot, or quit school altogether. Besides, the school is poorly equipped. Much like the kids, teachers lack support. For instance, how successful can a teacher be teaching a child in English (Uganda’s curricula language), when that child cannot read or write well in English?
The BEL team recognizes the importance of education, and strongly believes that a simple library can go a long way in helping transform Bwoga, starting with the community’s most valuable asset—the children.
The long-term BEL mission is to change the lives of children in Bwoga by providing them with educational materials necessary to acquire fundamental economic and life skills.
All donations made towards BEL will help move the community forward by allowing BEL to support the following functions:
1) Build, staff, and equip the library.
2) Invite guest speakers to discuss such topics as civil engagement.
3) Expose students to opportunities like athletic and
academic scholarships/grants.
4) Offer classes on life and educational skills such as science projects,
crafts, drama, music, and knitting.
5) Create workshops on environmental impacts such as recycling, waste
collection, and communal farming.
7) Teach business skills like design thinking and appropriate farming techniques.
Timeline:
1) Persuade readers to either share this page or donate to the mission TODAY.
2) Raise matching funds of $5,000 by December 30th to meet a goal of $10,000.
3) Start library construction in May 2021.
4) Give donors monthly progress reports.
5) Complete structures by December 2021.
The BEL project has secured funding for construction. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward operations, programming, and the purchase of books and necessary equipment for the library.
Please help Bwoga children realize their potentials. The impact of your donation on these children, ESPECIALLY in these COVID-19 times, is immense.
Any gift of $5, $25, $50, $100, $1,000 or five minutes of sharing on Facebook would be helpful. EVERY DONATION HELPS AND NO ACT OF KINDNESS WILL BE OVERLOOKED! Check with your tax specialist to learn if your gift is tax deductible
The Bwoga community and BEL team are extremely grateful and will personally thank all who donate to the BEL Construction Fund.
Thank you very much for your help, love, and support on this journey and may God bless you!
