Keiki Hula Solo for Kanoa Clifford
Donation protected
**UPDATE below**
It was Kanoa's honor to be asked by his Kumu (Hula instructor) to dance a solo at the upcoming Hula Competition in Hilo this October at Edith Kanakaole Pavilion!! He and his Keiki Kane brothers placed 3rd for Kahiko (Traditional Dance) and 4th for Auana (Modern Dance) at the Keiki Hula competition in July on Oahu!
Each dancer is responsible for making their costumes (this includes leis, grass skirts, head dress, ankle and wrist adornments if applicable) and providing for the musicians (food, travel and lodging) as the music is live and entrance fees at the venue.
There will be 2 soloists, one male (Our Kanoa Boy) and one female from their Halau performing.
We are going to do plate lunch fundraising as well as anything else Kanoa can do to raise money to dance (mowing lawn, washing cars, whatever it takes.....).
After Kanoa performed the first night of the competition we were driving to our Airbnb and only he and I were awake because it was so late. He said to me, "Mom, I know what my purpose is......God wants me to dance for HIM and I want to be the best". As a mother, those are the sweetest words I could have hoped to hear after such a long and rigorous night. It touched my heart to hear him share this with me.
When Kanoa dances he lights up and you can see and feel his happiness in that moment and he truly is dancing for God (Ke Akua). Kanoa truly has a heart after God, he's a beautiful young boy with so much potential...…..he's an old soul :)
We humbly ask for any support you can give to get Kanoa closer to his goal on his journey. This would mean so much to Kanoa and to our family.
**We have an update on the fundraising - thank you for helping us make our original goal!! We had to increase the amount due to adding brother Tristan to compete as a group for this competition. Kanoa is still doing his solo, however, we needed to come in as a group which was not originally a requirement. So new amount is to support Tristan competing with the group.**
Our deadline to raise the money is October 1, 2019 - we don't have much time, however, anything helps!!
Thank you in advance SO MUCH for your love
and support!
