Our hearts are heavy as we share that Rob sadly and suddenly passed away at the young age of 54.
Rob had been living with muscular dystrophy, and was also diagnosed with myopathy, chronic myositis, spondylitis spinal disease, and centripetal (respiratory) failure. These are progressive and painful conditions that affect the muscles, spine, and breathing.
Over time, Rob’s conditions caused severe muscle weakness, joint stiffness, and chronic pain, leaving him with reduced mobility and increasing difficulties with his breathing. The muscle damage from these illnesses eventually led to ventilatory failure, meaning his breathing muscles could no longer work as they should, making it harder for his body to get enough oxygen.
Yet, despite everything he faced, Rob’s kindness, courage, and compassion never faded. He continued to help others right until the very end — even on the evening before he passed, he was still offering support to people around him, showing just how selfless and caring he truly was.
Rob leaves behind his loving wife Carol, his daughters Steph and Dani, his stepchildren, and his seven adored grandchildren, along with many friends and extended family who loved him deeply.
Rob was an incredibly proud dad. He adored Steph and Dani beyond words — they were the light of his life. No matter what he was going through, his face would light up whenever he spoke about them. He was so proud of the strong, caring, and loving women they became, and nothing made him happier than seeing his girls happy and building their own lives and families. His love for them was endless and unconditional.
Rob also helped to raise Carol’s children, his stepchildren, whom he loved and cared for as if they were his own. He played a huge role in their lives — offering support, laughter, guidance, and love. To them, Rob wasn’t just a stepdad; he was a true father figure and a constant source of strength and kindness.
As a grandad, Rob was full of pride and affection. His seven grandchildren brought him pure joy — he loved seeing their smiles, hearing their laughter, and watching them grow. They were a huge part of his world, and he was happiest surrounded by family.
In the months before his passing, Rob was being supported by the wonderful team at the Lancashire Hospice, whose care and kindness meant so much to him and his family while managing his own health challenges, he showed incredible compassion and strength, inspiring everyone around him with his positivity and determination.
Carol and Rob shared 18 wonderful years together and married in 2018 at Gretna Green, Scotland — a place that meant so much to them. Scotland was their happy place, where they made memories exploring the coastlines and far isles, turning dreams into reality together.
Rob wasn’t just a husband; he was Carol’s best friend, her laughter, her encouragement, and her strength. He gave her the confidence to follow her dreams and was her biggest supporter.
He was loved by everyone who knew him — always ready to help anyone in need. Whether it was friends, family, colleagues, or strangers, Rob would be the first to offer a hand. His passions included martial arts and riding his motorbikes with his friends — moments where he truly felt free.
We’re creating this fundraiser to help give Rob the send-off he deserves, surrounded by love, respect, and dignity. Funds raised will go towards funeral expenses, flowers, cars, and arrangements, helping his family honour his memory the way he deserves.
Many of Rob’s friends have reached out wanting to contribute, and we’re so grateful for your kindness and support. Every message, share, and donation means the world to Carol, Steph, Dani, their families, and Rob’s grandchildren.
Thank you for helping us celebrate Rob’s life and give him the farewell he deserves.
Created by family and friends on behalf of Carol and Rob’s loved ones.
