Hello I’m Kristian I’m a single mother of 4 children three boys and a girl. They are 14, 10, 2 and 1. On 1/12/2021 it stated as a normal day at about 4pm it all changed I was downstairs working my shift my ten year old son was playing outside with our two dogs and my two year old had just woke up from his nap and was sitting at the table eating. My daughter who is one was upstairs sleeping I just hear her screaming crying. I went to check on her thinking she had just woke up and milk would fix all the problems of the world. I got to the top of the steps and seen smoke. I looked around and there was nothing in the hallway bathroom or my sons room. I walked to the back bedroom where she was and it was smoky. I grabbed her up and Checked for fire there was none in my room. I went over to the window to open it and noticed ash on the blinds. I said to myself this isn’t right this is serious and I gotta get her out of here. When I walked out of my room I passed her door the only place I didn’t check and when I opened it it was like a movie the darkest thickest smoke I’ve ever seen in my life and I found the fire. I knew it was too much and with her and the boys downstairs I knew we needed to get out. By the time I had walked ten feet to the top of the stairs it was so much smoke I couldn’t even see and my eyes were burning. I rushed down yelling I was able to get the boys out. Within 10 seconds of being outside I has on the phone with 911 the fire Department was amazing they were there in 5 minutes or less. The fire Marshall and all the fire fighters were so helpful. I’m so blessed I was told by him Im lucky she cried and I went to her he said your okay and your children are okay another five or ten minutes you would have lost your home and your baby today. The investigation showed it was a electrical fire that started in the wall. In less than 30 minutes we were left with nothing. The fire started upstairs in my daughters bedroom so all of our clothing all their toys everything was upstairs. They had to use so much water upstairs to put out the fire that half a hour later has I walked the house it was like it was raining inside the water was pouring down from upstairs. Everything downstairs is soaked in contaminated water. I figured hey at least we still have the basement no the same thing and the water was steady coming down and a hour later I was ready standing in inches of water in the basement. I’m so thankful that everything worked in Gods plan if a minute of that day had gone any differently I could have lost my babies. The fire caused so much damage we are expected to be out of our home for 8-12 months. We left home with the clothes on our backs only. Our two dogs and Damiens two bearded dragons are with friends. We are currently staying in a hotel. Any help that anyone could offer would be so appreciated and if you can’t help please share the story. We really need it. Thanks and God bless!
