Steve's Care
Donation protected
Hello All,
As many know, Steve is in the throes of battling Corticol Basal Degeneration (CBD), as well as a number of other challenges detailed below—He has been dealt a rough hand.
Thank you to all who have donated to the first GoFundMe page that Sandy set up. I am happy to report that we quickly reached the goal of $10,000.
However, that first effort was a financial triage/stop-gap, earmarked as funds to address his immediate needs. The real fundraising is now beginning, and we ask your help in supporting Steve’s care.
The new GoFundMe link below will reflect a goal of $30,000; however, going forward, it is estimated that Steve’s care will cost $8-10,000 per month.
There is no need to repeat the description below of Steve’s challenges, other than to say that Steve, Sandy, his family, and friends—In short, everyone who loves Steve, appreciate all that you are able to do. Please, do not hesitate to call/email me if you wish more information.
Gratefully,
Jim Nicoletti

Steve is suffering from a rare neuro-degenerative disease known as Corticol Basal Degeneration (CBD). The disease, a cousin to Alzheimer's, is causing Steve's body to "forget" how to move. He currently has no use of his left hand or arm, is losing a sense of his left leg, and most recently began experiencing dexterity issues with his right hand. In addition to CBD, in late 2016 Steve underwent a total laryngectomy to treat laryngeal cancer and in the spring of 2017, Steve suffered a heart attack. He has bravely fought through each of these debilitating diseases and set backs with a smile on his face and an optimistic attitude.
In late August, Steve suffered a catastrophic fall and broke his left hip. He underwent a quick surgery to repair the damage and has since been recovering in a rehab facility. Unfortunately the hip injury coupled with his deteriorating health has left him unable to walk or independently care for himself, so he is now confined to a wheel-chair and will not be able to return home.
Funds raised will be used toward Steve's transition to, and care at, an assisted living facility. We anticipate he will be leaving rehab in mid-October, so funds are needed immediately. Any and all donations will be extremely helpful toward ensuring Steve can be properly cared for as his health continues to deteriorate and care-needs continue to evolve.

Thank you so very much for your help.
