I am fundraising to be able to take an excellent internship opportunity this summer (June & July 2021) to work with the Bright Women's Association of Today (BWAT) in Tunis, Tunisia. The organization, which was started by local Tunisian women, helps and supports abused and vulnerable women. The attached video (script written by me) tells the story of Soumaya, a woman helped by BWAT. 
Among other projects, I will be:

• Interviewing women and collecting their stories. Telling them in written media, scripts for reenactment videos, and traditional art.
• Writing and editing newsletters; updating and expanding the website for the organization.
• Conducting a research project and survey to provide the organization with more information about how their services are making a difference.
• Teaching painting workshops to women.
• Helping in short projects with other community initiatives and NGOs around the country.

I have lived in Tunisia previously for a total of about 8 years. As a college student spending everything she earns on tuition, groceries, and gas, I am unable to self-fund this work. If you would like to be involved in helping Tunisian women this summer, I would deeply appreciate your help in enabling me to both learn from and give back to this valuable organization.

In the event of a full-country shutdown or other barrier that prevents me from going forward, I will donate whatever I raise to BWAT. Thank you!
