Refugee Aid in Europe
Help us help the incoming refugees in Europe!
Mainstream media is declaring a refugee "crisis" in the European Union, with the majority of migrants arriving from Syria (with smaller numbers of people fleeing from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Somalia, and Nigeria). To keep the scale of this current wave of refugees in perspective, it is important to know that approximately 75% of Syrian refugees have fled to overcrowded and underfunded camps in neighboring countries such as Jordan, Turkey, and Lebanon. There is no reason why the recent waves of refugees to the EU cannot be accommodated, but as they are being met with closed borders, and being made to suffer outrageous human indignities, we feel compelled to do what we can to provide what little comfort we can for them as they travel in search of safety and security.
A network of family & friends spanning across the world has volunteered to travel along the routes being used by incoming migrants in the European Union, distributing basic necessities such as water, baby food, and hygiene packs.
If you are living in the European Union, particularly in Austria or Germany, we are accepting in-kind donations of light-weight and compact items to be distributed to refugees, including:
Bottled water
Compact containers of baby food
Packaged, compact, and non-perishable food items (e.g. protein bars and cereal bars)
Comfortable shoes
Over-the-counter pain medication (Tylenol, Aspirin, etc.)
First aid items (bandages, antiseptics, topical muscle relief treatments such as BenGay, etc.)
Lightweight blankets and sleeping bags
Lightweight jackets/raincoats
Travel-sized personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.)
Feminine hygiene products
