Support Winnie’s Journey to Recovery

Hi all, my name is Roxana Magee and I am reaching out for support on behalf of my sweet girl Winifred "Winnie" Ursa. I have had the pleasure of being her human companion/mama bear since she was a wee puppy.

Winnie is a 2.5-year-old Akita who loves people, playing with our other dogs (her sister Sasha and 'cousin' Romeo), and enjoying the pet toys (both hers and the cats). She also enjoys going on walking adventures and meeting new dogs and people, however this has been limited by her knee injuries. She has torn cranial cruciate ligaments (CCLs) on both her hind knees; she initially had only injured her left knee, but while working through the diagnostics and managing her symptoms she hurt the other.

My family and I have been working for over a year to look up our options, between getting multiple estimates for surgeries and applying for funding from various charities (to no avail). Last year we spent over $3k in diagnostics, labs and medication for pain management. So far the most cost-effective option would be ~$4,500 per knee, not including post-operative care or updated imaging. Unfortunately I have been battling my own chronic health conditions, which has made putting together the funds for this surgery much more daunting.

I am hoping to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of:

• Updated imaging/testing (i.e., x-rays and bloodwork)

• TPLO surgeries for both CCL injuries

• Post-operative care and medications

I love my Winnie bear, and I want to give her the best quality of life she can have. Any and all donations and support will help her regain her mobility so she can get back to doing what she loves, going on adventures and making friends along the way.
