Hi, I’m Heath Patton, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support for a very close friend of mine, Scott Dickson. Scott recently suffered a serious injury while playing football—an accident that has turned his life upside down in a matter of moments. As someone who’s always been strong, spirited, and full of life, it’s hard to see him facing such a tough road to recovery.
Scott Dickson is a beloved and valued member of the Lalor Bloods Football Club. Scott has been a member of the club for the last three years, where he was captain of the seniors team in season 2024 and is currently a valued member of the leadership team. He is a young father of three girls with the youngest being only 7 weeks old, and is in his last year of placement of his Medical Degree. Scott also works with the Victorian virtual Emergency Department as a Lead Aboriginal Liaison and clinical assistant.
After returning from a recovered concussion in Round 2, he was struck again with a severe concussion in Round 4 after having a collision with his Epping opponent. Scott had an immediate loss of consciousness as soon as he was hit, and was unconscious for approximately 2 minutes. The extent of his injuries weren’t confirmed until he received a CT scan confirming 8 individual facial fractures in 5 parts of the left side of his face. Specialists have advised for Scott to receive surgery to provide better symmetry and support to his face. They will insert 2-3 titanium plates during the surgery, and will potentially need to break the right side of his upper jaw, due to an incomplete upper jaw fracture on the left side of his face. Surgery has been confirmed for Wednesday the 14/5, with an estimated recovery period of 6-8 weeks depending on the result of the surgery.
All raised funds will be going towards Scott and his family to help ease any financial burden, especially when faced with unexpected medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and time away from work. It not only helps cover treatment but also provides emotional relief, knowing the Football Club and general community stands behind them. Every contribution will help bring Scott and his family one step closer to recovery and gives their family the strength and support they need during a difficult time.
