I'm not sure how many of you have read this article but to cut a long story short this hero was severely injured in Afghanistan, infact so badly injured the medics pinned an obituary to him as they didn't think he'd make it home. He did, he has however been left with life changing injuries. Simon will never work again and his life is not what it used to be, he is solely dependant on carers and his mother. His ex wife left him and after squandering the £1.1m compensation Simon was awarded, she took him to court for the last £200k. The courts awarded her £84,163 legal fees, £30,000 mortgage paid, £10,000 cash and £1500 per month child maintenance. Simon also has to pay his own £28,615 court fees, this will leave a man who fought for OUR country just £28,000 to cover the specialist care he needs for the rest of his life.
