The 8th Annual Billy D Classic takes place this Sunday. Even though the format is different this year, the cause is still the same; the gift of education. We have raised over $300,000 in the past 8 years and we can not thank everyone enough for their contributions!
But there is another reason to contribute this year: opportunity.
The Rochester City District is consistently among the WORST in the United States where the graduation rate hovers around 50% every year. Nativity effectively changes the odds as 90% of its students will go on to graduate high school. The school where Billy taught uses mostly donations, fundraisers and foundation support to provide unique opportunities that these students would not usually have.
William “Billy” D’Antonio was the legend of all legends. Hard to find someone more loving and caring than Billy D. We met freshman year of college and were friends ever since. When everyone got jobs after college, Billy wanted to give back and volunteered to teach at Nativity Prep Academy in Rochester, NY, his hometown. In a short time, the students adored “Mr. D” and he impacted hundreds of students. In 2013, Billy tragically passed away when living in Boston. At his services, we were determined to honor Billy and make the best out of the situation because that’s what Billy would want us to do. We started the Billy D Classic golf tournament in 2013 with all proceeds and donations going to scholarship opportunities for students to attend Nativity Prep Academy in Rochester, NY.
I am asking for your contribution (large or small) to provide another opportunity to one who truly needs it. Thanks to Go Fund Me, all funds donated will go directly to Nativity Prep.
