Bastian's Battle

Donation protected
**As of Tuesday, Bastian is halfway through both radiation and chemotherapy for now! This past month and a half has flown by. Bastian has regained movement in his whole body, however parts of his body aren't  working quite like they used to. He has marked weakness in his left arm and leg. He has a brace for his leg and uses a cane to walk or his wheelchair when he's feeling weak and can't keep his balance. His spirit though is stronger than ever. It seems that nothing is going to change that, and for that I am so thankful.

Last month, a lumbar puncture was done to determine if there are any cancer cells circulating throughout Bastian's spinal cord. There aren't! A portion of his tumor was sent to St. Jude's for further study to determine if there is a chance that his cancer is a lesser grade that could have morphed into a higher grade. After weeks of waiting, the results came back as inconclusive. This is because they found that there are TWO different types of cancer in the tumor. One is GLIOBLASTOMA which is very aggressive and the other is ANAPLASTIC PILOCYTIC ASTROCYTOMA, which would be considered less aggressive than GBM. This sounded terrifying to me at first. I couldn't believe my ears. It was shocking enough to hear that Bastian had cancer, but now he has TWO different types? I couldn't figure out why the case manager was smiling when he told me, until he told me that the oncologist now thinks there's hope where there previously was little in their eyes. His tumor is behaving well under a microscope and may have taken on some less aggressive traits of the astrocytoma, which is very good! I just know a miracle is working in my son!

I hope and pray every day that the combination of chemotherapy and radiation will help Bashy to kick cancer for good. I say to myself in the mirror every day, multiple times a day, "I will NOT lose my son!" I believe it.

Our family continues to be forever grateful for the huge amount of support everyone has shown us. We wish we could hug each and every one of you and thank you in person! It means so much during this time to know so many people are rooting for our boy. Please keep sending out those good vibes for Bastian, and for every other child facing this battle.. It really does make a difference. :)**

Bastian is a 7 year old little boy who unfortunatly has stage 4 glioblastoma. It's a cancerous tumor pressing on his brain stem. A few weeks ago he suddenly became paralyzed from the neck down. He was rushed to the hospital to have emergency surgery. They removed MOST of the tumor but couldn't get all. Two weeks later he now has some control of his right side. His left he can only make small twitches, this is a good improvement though.

Bastian has two other brothers, a twin and a younger brother. His mother and step dad both work full time jobs, however, his mom will be taking leave from work to stay with Bastian while he's in the hospital. This could be months. His step dad just took a 2 week leave from work to help with their youngest son and Bastian's twin brother. They will need to arrange baby sitting in the future, meals and figure out how to pay their bill based off just one income now.

I would like to raise money for their family to help cut some of the stress that this family will be facing.  Just getting him home will cost them over $300 just to transport him. He will need other equipment when he returns home as well. I will let you all know more when I know more.

Kim is a dear friend of mine who has always been there when myself or anyone needed help. This is our chance to help her and her family. I can't imagine what she is going through, but she is being so strong for her little boy who doesn't have a clue whats going on.

If you do some research on his condition you will see what the outcome looks like. The Dr.s estimate he has one year left.... But this is a strong little boy and I know he can beat this. For now please share and donate if you can to help this family out. Kim doesn't have a clue I've created this for her. She's not one to ask for help so for now I would like to keep this quiet until we raise funds for her and her family. If you can't affored to help sharing helps just as much! Thank you in advance!

PS: Once we reach our goal she will be able to read all your comments if you want to leave a comment or message for her!
