Hello, my name is Priya and I’m fundraising for my 48 year old mom of two Santokh Dhillon. She was diagnosed in 2022 with oral cancer which the doctors failed to inform her with the correct information and treatment. She was told it was fungus growth. We only found this out because I decided to get all her hospital reports pulled from the past and present. Fast forward to November 2024 my mom developed a large bump size of a Brussel sprout on her tongue and neck which the biopsy came back positive for stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma. On January 30th 2025 my mom underwent an extensive surgery where they removed all of her tongue, all her teeth and multiple lymph nodes from both sides of her neck. She is currently learning to talk again and recently just started learning to drink water from her mouth. She feeds all by a g tube which is a big thing for someone who loves trying new foods and cooking fun things all the time. Within few weeks of her surgery, the cancer came back but this time more aggressive and in multiple places of her body. Her oncology team at BC cancer failed her. They refused chemo because she’s only 84lbs and they only did radiation for two weeks which they also stopped after the 6th session when there should’ve been 14 because they didn’t feel comfortable moving forward due to the pain she was experiencing and as one of her radiation oncologist said as I quote “we need to think about our medical license first”. They completely shut her out of the system instead of looking at other treatment options or other strategies. They simply said they don’t want to continue because they don’t feel comfortable without a second thought. She’s a mother to a 23 year old and a 12 year old. Her kids need her more then ever, she is all they have and after speaking with multiple doctors around the world we have finally found a place that is offering promising treatment and where we have been given 6 months or less of her life span they are promising a normal shot at life for her with the right treatment plan. The only thing standing between this treatment and my mom is money problems. My mom cannot currently work and most likely won’t ever be returning back since she can barely even talk and communicate with words and as her oldest daughter I am on caretaker leave so I’m not working either and haven’t since January. Since this treatment is through a private clinic and doctors, it is estimated to cost roughly $200,000CAD Even a dollar anything you can donate can help make a difference and give us more time with our mom. She is all we have and we cannot imagine losing her, we lost her once few weeks ago when she flat lined and that is a day we will never forget, it will always haunt us. Please help in anyway you can, donate or share please we are desperate for any help.
