Our 4 year old Aussie, Buzz, has epilepsy. We have spent the last year working with specialists to manage his seizures but unfortunately have spent more times than we want in the ER.
Two weeks ago Buzz had dental surgery to have some broken teeth removed caused by seizures. The procedure ended up being more costly because there was more damage than anticipated, and because epileptic dogs require a special anesthesiologist present during surgery. That surgery was $6k.
Today, Buzz has been admitted to the ICU for severe pancreatitis that they believe was caused by one of his epilepsy meds. Unfortunately, this med has been our “miracle drug” that completely stopped his seizures and we are now having to completely cut off that med and start all over searching for an appropriate medication cocktail to stop his seizures.
We are asking for any help we can get to lessen our financial hardship. We have been overwhelmed with medical bills this past month trying to keep Buzz healthy and alive.
