Buy Groceries for Low Income Neighbors
Donation protected
Buy a groceries for a family in need!
At Seattle's Magnuson Park, there are more than 170 low-income families which have been extremely hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. These families are among northeast Seattle's most vulnerable. They each have household incomes at 30% or below the median Seattle income.
Quite a few households have furloughed or laid-off parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most of these families have school-age children.
We've launched a month-long campaign together with two nonprofits: Solid Ground Sand Point Housing and Mercy Housing Northwest to help bring groceries to the families that live there. While this won't provide all their food needs, it will go a long way toward supplementing other sources of nutrition, and will allow them a little more room in their very limited budget during this crisis.
100% of the funds raised via this GoFundMe go to the purchase of grocery cards, distributed directly by on-site staff to those families with greatest need.
Can you buy a bag of groceries for families in need? Simply donate here, and we'll get them a grocery card! We'll take care of the logistics and update you. Thank you so much for your generosity!
* $20 donation buys a family of four their food for a day
* $50 buys a bag of groceries
* $100 buys a family of three meals for a week (and we'll send you a #bigthanks sticker!)
* $200 buys a family of three meals for more than two weeks (and we will send you a #bigthanks sticker!)
Matching Gift: The first $10,000 raised will be matched by a generous donor family.
In addition to this GoFundMe, we are also looking for working laptops or tablets made after 2013 that you'd like to donate. If you've got a working laptop or tablet that you're no longer using, instructions on drop-off can be found at bigthanks.org.
We'd love your support with either or both items -- please buy a grocery gift card or two, and drop off a laptop that you no longer use! #bigthanks to you for helping your neighbors in need!
