Hi, my name is Hawo, and I'm Ahmed's Mum. Ahmed is a almost 13 year old boy who has a lot of complex medical needs. He has intestinal failure and he is not able to eat or drink anything orally, like other 13 year olds. He requires TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) since June last year to get his nutrition. The TPN is delivered through a Hickman line.

Ahmed also has mobility difficulties. He finds it difficult to walk, and he gets fatigued very easily. He uses a wheelchair to get around. Ahmed is also on night time ventilation to help with his breathing. Ahmed requires daily support with all his needs.

Ahmed spent four months in hospital last year. He is finding it difficult to cope with all of these medical conditions, and his mental health is also being affected. His quality of life is also reduced.

Ahmed used to love going swimming with his sister, and it's something that brought him great joy. He isn't able to do this now that he has the Hickman line as he can't get it wet; he is at risk of developing a serious blood infection.

If Ahmed has a dry suit, he will be able to go swimming. This is why I want to raise money to buy a dry suit for Ahmed.

With a dry suit, Ahmed can enjoy swimming with his family and take part in going to the beach. He will be able to have a more active life with the dry suit.

It's very stressful for Ahmed and our family to deal with all of Ahmed's medical needs. We hope to be able to have some more fun as a family, doing an activity that Ahmed used to love and create some precious memories.
