Buy a car for Iryna and Irina

In a few weeks time Irina and her 6 year old daughter Polina are coming to stay with us in Kingsbury Episcopi as part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme. It’s been a long road to get here but their visas have been issued and we are looking to arrange their travel the UK. Irina’s friend Iryna and her 10 year old daughter Nastya will also be travelling with them and staying with another host in the village.

Because Kingbury Episocpi is a rural location Henrietta and I would like to fundraise to buy Irina and Iryna a car to share. It will enable them

to have a huge amount of independence, increase their job opportunities, take the children to school and connect with Ukrainian community groups in the area.

They are coming from Zhytomyr, 2 hours west of Kyiv. In recent days the shelling has increased and we are all very anxious to get them to the safety of the UK. Irina told me yesterday Polina had to hide in a suitcase with her 2 month old baby cousin which is unimaginable. They are all incredibly frightened.

It would be wonderful if you could give anything for the pot, no matter how small to help with the costs of a car, the MOT and insurance.

100% of the funds will go towards the cost of the car. If there is anything left over then it will be split between the two families to help them settle in Somerset as they really are coming with nothing.
