Help us give a book to each child at Lansdowne Elementary School, in memory of Lisa Goodwin...
You may remember being a young person and having the Scholastic Book Fair visit your school. I distinctly recall being ecstatic to browse the newspaper-weight, stapled, multi-page, color catalogue, circling all of the items I wanted to buy with a red ball point pen. Only to later have my mom say, “You may pick out one book, not 15”.
Many kids only get to circle their wishes.
This past spring, we lost our dear friend, Lisa Goodwin.
Lisa dedicated her life to helping young people read. She worked tirelessly and lovingly with many of our Catonsville youth, and with the 4th grade students of Lansdowne Elementary School. Lisa worked and volunteered there for several years, helping to support the English program as a reading specialist.
As a tribute to Lisa’s love, generosity, and all-around awesomeness as a human being, we are requesting donations. This money will go towards seeing that each of the 537 students at Lansdowne Elementary get to buy a book of their choosing.
In Lisa’s memory, at this year’s Scholastic Book Fair (coming this November), every child will have a smile on their face and a book in their hands because you cared enough to donate.
Thank you for honoring her legacy, for caring enough to help kids know the joy of reading, and for keeping Lisa Goodwin's loving spirit alive.
