Buy Angela an All terrain electric wheelchair

Hi, my name is Judy and I’m fund raising on behalf of Angela Bamkin Farrell to buy her an all terrain electric wheelchair which will totally transform her life.

I met Angela when I was about 12 years old at Belgrave Swimming Club in Leicester. I’m sure many of you ex- swimmers will remember her.

Sadly, Angela now has terminal cancer among other serious medical conditions which limit her mobility. She lives with her much loved assistance dog, Xavi, who also has cancer and is constantly by her side. A new wheelchair would be life changing for Angela, please read her story below.

“Hello my name is Angela and my Assistance Dog is Xavi..

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

I have been a Wheelchair User for the past 15yrs, initially due to having a DVT and Pulmonary Embolism, the Blood Clots where so large, they left me with huge difficulties to be mobile as my main vein that carries the blood back to my heart had Calcified leaving my blood using the little B And C roads to travel around my body.

I was put on Warfarin for life to keep me alive, with my blood being taken each wk and warfarin dose given to me of what I need to be taking.

My body also has Chronic nerve syndrome with eight of my discs to my Spine being Prolasped, this causes huge pain all over my body despite pain relief.

I have Polymyalgia this causes swelling an Odeama to my body all of this takes its toll on me mentally and physically.

Myself and Xavi are now living with terminal Cancer, We battle this each day together the very best we are able.

My Cancer is EHE that is on my Lungs, in my nodes and Pleura, I use air and oxygen to help me breathe.

Xavi is a constant in my life he is truly amazing, he gave me my life back after years of being in the dark, he made me Shine again, get out again enjoying life as independantly as I could.

Having a Wheelchair where I can go with Xavi, family and friends such as onto the beach rather than sat at the top watching often crying as I do, longing to be with them.

Going to the Country Parks, over grass lands and to climb a hill, all things I have not been able to do for 15yrs of my life.

This new All Terrain Chair is something I have dreamed of for so, so long, but had accepted that I would depart from this world without ever being able to return to doing the things I loved so much; seeing Xavi playing in the Sea, my Grandchildren on the Sands Rock pooling as I had done with My Mummy as a child, my Children did with me as a Single Mummy bringing them up, now its myGrandchildren who go Rock pooling whilst Grandma is not able to be there and I sit watching at the top on the Path.

The Transformation of my life with a new All Terrain Wheelchair to use for the rest of my life whilst I am still here, with Xavi by my side, is what dreams are made of.
