On March 1st, 2020 an American dream became a reality when Rena became a small business owner to a small pub in Houston, TX. The journey itself would make a great book. It is one amazing journey that spans 40 years, 3 countries, escape from communism, escape from cultural persecution, life with war, life with terrorism, years of poverty, a love story, and achieving the true American Dream.
After taking ownership Rena only had an opportunity to operate 7 business days before the first mandated closure because of COVID-19. Then after 3 months of closure the business was allowed to open again at 25% capacity and then later at 50%. The business was never able to reestablish a solid foot hold after the impact from COVID, protests, and the riots that got within a half of block from the establishment. Now again the state of Texas has closed the bars again and Harris County has put in place a stay at home order until September. Currently without help from the family, friends, and the community this business will NOT survive the pandemic.
Please help ensure that this American Dream has a chance to prevail. Today we are all faced with the challenges and impacts from the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Many times the individual stories get overlooked and in the process dreams are shattered. We have never in our life thought that utilizing this platform would be an option. We have always relied on hard work and drive. Today's times and the current situations is preventing those options and as a result to save an American Dream we are seeking additional support from all areas.
Just a few things that your contributions do:
--Provide additional support to the employees during these hard times.
--Minimizing or canceling the impact to employees
--Supporting a small business
--Ensuring that business can be done with other small business.
--Bringing hope to others that things will get better and that business can prevail.
--Allow a path and springboard to boost the economy.
--Ensure that a lifetime of sacrifices were not in vain. The working 2-3 jobs, 100+ hour weeks, and no vacation since 2007 used to pursue owning one's own business.
--Help offset the revenue losses from the mandated closure.
