A delightful, loving, generous Afghan family of 12 needs help getting established in the USA. This father plans to support his family by driving for a rideshare service. Our goal is to raise funds that the father can use to purchase a solid used car. If this campaign exceeds our goal, we plan to use additional funds to help them with utility bills and groceries in the coming months.

 

The father worked for the USA military for over 20 years. This family is among thousands of Afghans who became refugees when they had to move to the USA last year for their safety. We are not using this family’s name for their personal safety, and the safety of their family members who are still living in Afghanistan.

 

This campaign is being promoted by the Adelphi Friends Meeting (“Quakers”), in Adelphi, Maryland. We are among many communities of faith that have come forward to help refugees get settled, through the International Rescue Committee. We are deeply moved by our relationship with this family, in awe of both the challenges inherent in their situation and the grace, dignity, and determination with which they are facing those challenges. Every bit of help they can get is well deserved, and needed.
