Hi, my name is Dave I'm one of the trustees and co-founder of Weymouth & Portland Marine Litter Project.

We are in our 5th year and have recently become a registered charity No. 1218701. Over the past 4 years we have struggled along using our own cars and hiring a van to carry our equipment and recycling.

Hiring a van means we are constantly spending funds we could use on environmental projects and limits us to one day's use a month. It also limits how much we recycle as we don't have the space at public litter picks to carry our equipment and recycle.

We are currently recycling over 6 tonnes of plastic waste a year keeping our coast clean and diverting waste from incineration & landfill. We recycle marine plastic across the Dorset coast and from afar afield as Guernsey.

During the school holidays (mid July to September) we clean Weymouth beach on average 5 evenings a week. What we are asking is for people to sponsor our summer beach cleans and help us raise funds for a van.

We not only clean the beach but try to recycle & reuse as much as possible from beach toys to plastic bottles.
