I'm raising money for Wedmore Village Farm (formerly The Food Forest Project). The hope for this fund is to buy us a new fridge to enable us to continue our outdoor education programme for local schools.
Our guiding principles at the farm are to connect people with the source of their food and the importance of local, sustainable farming.
But... I can't teach cookery lessons without a working fridge! And sadly the fridge that was donated to us initially was... Well, a dud. The cost of a refurbished professional fridge (the standard we must uphold by law) is £350.
One of the ways we do this is through our outdoor education programme, in which we lead engaging, practical sessions at Wedmore Village Farm that give children a basic understanding of how food and farming systems connect to our own wellbeing, whilst building confidence, ownership, and practical skills in an outdoor learning environment.
Our farm and food programme positively impacts children in many ways. Outdoor education is shown to significantly reduce anxiety levels amongst children, increase confidence, and improve teamwork and communication skills.
But... I can't teach cookery lessons without a working fridge! And sadly the fridge that was donated to us initially was... Well, broken. The cost of a refurbished professional fridge (the standard we must uphold) is £350.
Myself and the team at Wedmore Village Farm can't thank you enough for your contribution to our charity cause. Any donation will help make an impact.
