Buy A Cuddle Cot In Memory Of Jack
After 6 years of trying to conceive in January 2016 we fell pregnant. At 20 weeks we found out we were expecting a boy who we decided we would call Jack. Things continued to go well, and after Jack was overdue I was booked in for an induction on 12/10, however on my birthday the 10th October when I was 41+3 weeks I started to have contractions. I noticed that Jack's movements had I thought, slowed down so we took ourselves off to Salisbury District Hospital (SDH) for a routine check.
Within 20 minutes of arriving our world was shattered, I was scanned and Jack no longer had a heartbeat. My contractions continued to get stonger and at 7.37am on 11th October I gave birth to all 8lb 1oz of our sleeping baby boy.
A cuddle cot is a moses basket with a cooling system attached, which keeps a baby at a low temperature, allowing family to spend more time with their little one. Without one of these, a family would have no more than a couple of hours before mother nature would start to takes it toll on such a delicate body.
SDH had 2 cots available however it soon came apprarent that their were issues with both. Eventually the 2 cots were combined to make 1 working machine. However if another family had needed it during our 2 days with Jack, both families would have had less time with their babies.
Our aim is to raise enough funds to buy SDH a second cuddle cot. You may think that 2 cots may not be required but 17 stillborn babies are born every day in the UK and 1 in 4 pregnancies end in either miscarriage, stillbirth or neo natal death. Its more common than you think and no family shouldn't be able to have time with their little one.
