Craig’s Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
Hey everyone, thanks for taking a moment to read the story and show your support- whether it is by sharing the link, donating, sending me a message or even sending whatever your form of belief and positivity is my way.

I was diagnosed with testicular cancer and will be undergoing surgery Friday, 1/27/2023. It was a complete shock to me and almost everyone that I’ve shared the information with.

I never go to the doctor because my theory was: They only deliver bad news.

Well, after a freak accident I went to the hospital and underwent some initial testing. This testing included an ultrasound. The ultrasound revealed a cluster that the doctors weren’t too sure about and referred me to a specialist.

The specialist immediately sent me back for more imaging and over a period of about 10 days this cluster grew pretty rapidly. Luckily, it has not spread based upon all the testing I’ve undergone thus far. After the second round of imaging, is when the medical professionals started to use terms such as growth, mass, tumor and potentially cancer.

Along the way I have taken a pretty solid hit financially and will utilize all of my PTO. The fundraising efforts will go towards the medical bills I’ve incurred, the post surgery treatment and to potentially alleviate some of the financial worries that will come with having to take unpaid time off. Also, as I started a new position my benefits have not been enacted during this time.

I’m lucky and thankful for the support system I have, as they’ve been super encouraging and positive. Helping me through the tears, fears and whirlwind of emotions I’ve experienced.

Most importantly, the doctor believes we caught it early, but has told me I will be under extensive care for approximately 5 years, as a number of close/immediate relatives have had their own cancer battles; which he believes is the best way to monitor to my short-term and long-term health.

Of course, I’m optimistic and excited to see what the journey ahead holds. The journey as a parent, professional, friend, brother and in so many other capacities as well including cancer survivor.

I greatly appreciate you all and can’t thank you enough for the love, compassion and emotional support.

Much love everyone.
