In the heart of Butwala Village, East Uganda, widows, orphans, young people, and former prisoners face profound hardships that dim their hope for a brighter future. This rural community struggles with limited access to clean water, education, and economic opportunities, leaving its most vulnerable residents in distress. Widows, often neglected and overburdened, lack the means to support themselves and their families. Orphans face abandonment and scarce access to schooling, while young people aged 5-16 are deprived of nearby educational facilities, forcing them to walk long distances or forgo education entirely. Former prisoners, released from incarceration with no rehabilitation or development opportunities, often return to a cycle of crime due to the lack of job prospects or community-driven projects to reintegrate them, tragically leading many back to prisons.

Our transformative initiatives aim to empower Butwala’s residents with sustainable solutions. We’re planning to not only provide the basic but crucial aid items to support the livelihood of the struggling widows, orphans, and young people, we also aim to install a borehole to provide clean, reliable water, easing the burden on women and fostering healthier households. Through skills training programmes like soap-making workshops, expanded farming opportunities, and other development programmes, we’re equipping widows, orphans, and former prisoners with tools for economic independence. By partnering with local leaders to support educational programs, scholarships, and rehabilitation initiatives, we’re ensuring young people and former inmates have access to learning and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to their community.
