UPDATE: Enough has been raised to cover Butters's ICU stay and surgery for his spine. The total raised after GFM took out fees is $8,712.18. Therefore, donations have been disabled. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated. He has a lot of angels who have his back (pun intended) and it is because everyone who came together that he is alive today. He is very, very thankful to have been given a second chance at life.
Butters is safe. He is resting comfortably and he will be on strict "bed rest" in a crate for the next 6 weeks. Keeping him calm and resting is absolutely critical for a good outcome. Thank you again!

UPDATE: There are a few questions directly from GoFundMe concerning Butters's campaign that are answered below:
How you are related to the person you are raising funds for? These funds are being raised for a dog in rescue named Butters who is a patient of Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center.
Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiary/ies? The funds are being withdrawn by campaign teamleader, Kurt Swanson, who will apply the money to cover the outstanding balance on Butters's care account.
How the funds will be spent (please be specific as possible if this is not already shared in your campaign story or in your updates)? The funds are being spent to pay for Butters's ICU bill, his surgery bills for ventral slot surgery on his spine & brachycephalic obstructive airway surgery, plus his follow up appointments with neurology over the next 6 weeks.

This is Butters and he desperately needs our help. Butters in currently in the ICU at the Las Vegas Veterinary Center fighting for his life. You see, earlier this week, he started acting funny and was spending a lot of time in the downward dog position, trying to hold his neck close to the ground. He’s also been holding his neck in a funny to the side like there is a crick in it and doesn’t want to be touched. He can’t stand for long periods of time because he is in too much pain.
His regular vet did an xray and believes he has slipped a disc in his neck … the dreaded IVDD. Of course, you can’t diagnose IVDD with an xray, it has to be done with an MRI. He was given medication for the pain. On his way home from the vet, he started frothing from the mouth and vomiting, probably due to the extreme pain and a reaction to the medications. He was immediately taken to the ER where they had to put him on a ventilator so he wouldn’t die. By about midnight, they were able to take him off the ventilator, but his fight is far from over. He is still in the ICU and in critical care. Right now, they consider him their most critical patient.
Butters MUST have an MRI and he will need surgery on his spine. Surgery is his only chance at this point. The IVDD is affecting his front legs, not is hind ones. He is in an incredible amount of pain. They have him on methadone and some other heavy pain meds to help keep him comfortable. They are giving him one more day to stabilize his airway and then tomorrow is the MRI. If he doesn’t get surgery, he will have to be euthanized. Nobody wants to put this adorable boy to sleep. He is only 4 years old and has a ton of life left in him. This is NOT a situation where conservative treatment (crate rest and meds) will work, so please don’t suggest it. He NEEDS surgery!
PLEASE HELP US HELP BUTTERS! Time is on the essence. But the surgery is very expensive. Even small donations really add up toward our final goal. If you don’t have any money, PLEASE SHARE! We don’t want Butters to die from something that can be fixed with surgery. This is going to take a village!
