Butter's Battle: Emergency Vet Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Esther, and I’m fundraising for my beloved dog, Butter, who was recently diagnosed with a life-threatening condition called Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA).
Last Thursday, I noticed Butter wasn’t eating much and had very little energy. I took her to the vet, thinking it might be something minor—but we were told she needed to get to an emergency clinic immediately or she wouldn’t survive the next few hours. Her red blood cell count had dropped dangerously low, and she needed an urgent blood transfusion to stay alive.
That same day, I rushed her to the emergency vet, where she was admitted for overnight care, extensive testing, and a transfusion. After many emotional hours and a lot of praying, she pulled through and was diagnosed with IMHA—a serious autoimmune disease where the body attacks its own red blood cells.
Butter is only 4 years old (turning 5 in August) and has been by my side for nearly her entire life. I can honestly say she helped me survive the darkest moments of my own life. I truly don’t know where I’d be without her. She’s more than just a pet—she’s family, my constant, and my best friend.
The emergency vet visit, tests, and transfusion cost $4,800. Butter will need to continue visiting the vet every few weeks for testing and monitoring. She’s also likely to be on medication for the rest of her life. If her red blood cell count drops again, she may need additional transfusions—each one costing about $500.
I’m asking for help raising $7,000 to cover:
• The $4,800 emergency vet bill
• Ongoing blood tests and check-ups
• Lifetime medication
• Possible future transfusions
Anything helps. If you’re able to donate, I can’t thank you enough. And if you can’t donate, sharing Butter’s story means the world. She’s fighting hard, and with a little help, I know she can live a long, happy life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Esther
