Bute Animal Rescue and Rehoming
Donation protected
Welcome to the beautiful Isle of Bute, off the west coast of Scotland. We are the only organisation that rescues and rehomes animals on this island. It is vital work.
Our purpose is to stop suffering and offer many animals a fresh chance of a good life. This is our passion, but we urgently need your help to continue.
We have no source of income other than the very kind donations from our small community of islanders, but the need to care for animals here is growing.
We are a small group of only five volunteers, and we respond immediately to every call for help.
We rescue wild animals of all sorts, orphaned hoglets and adult hedgehogs, seabirds, and corvids. In fact, the wildlife sometimes take themselves to the local human hospital where we are called to collect them!
Our organisation rescues abandoned companion animals. We veterinary check, vaccinate and neuter where necessary and place into carefully checked foster homes.
We rehome pets where owners sadly can no longer cope or when family circumstances have changed. There are many reasons why an animal may need a new home.
Then we very carefully rehome each animal into a loving forever family.
As everywhere, Veterinary and medication costs are very expensive, also animal food costs continue to rise.
Our lovely but unique situation on an island also means that our transport costs are high. If we receive a wild animal that needs specialist help, we take it to the wonderful Hessilhead Wildlife Centre in Ayrshire. but this entails a ferry crossing and 44 miles round trip by car. So, costs quickly mount up.
Please make a donation to keep our rescue and rehoming work going. Any donation, large or small will be very welcome and will directly help the animals of this island. Thank you.
