Help find a cure for Buster!
Donation protected
Buster is a 10-12 year old White Bellied Caique. Buster was rehomed 3 times before he became part of our family and found his forever home about 4 years ago. We love Buster and his personality and he is an important part of our family.
About 2 years ago, Buster was been diagnosed with Avian Bornavirus (http://www.avianbiotech.com/diseases/bornavirus.htm), a debilitating virus which may have caused nerve damage in his spine and legs leaving him confined to a fishtank as he cannot perch due to intense pain. When he perches, he sometimes screams and bites at his legs in bouts of pain. It may not be the Bourna though. That is the reason for all of his testing.
We have spent thousands of dollars already to provide the best care to Buster, taking him to specialists and trying numerous medications that have had no effect on his condition.
The reason we are reaching out and asking for your donation is to try and figure out what is wrong with Buster. While we think that the Avian Bornavirus has something to do with his condition, all of the usual remedies for such have not worked. Our next step is to take Buster to Cornell University to undergo extensive and expensive testing to find out what is wrong and take steps to alleviate his pain.
As an small incentive, if you donate to Buster's cause, Buster has graciously agreed to take a photo with a personalized "thank you" note that will be uploaded to his facebook page: www.facebook.com/bustertheparrot
Our end goal is to help Buster live in a cage again. Any dollar amount over our goal will be donated directly to Cornell University to help fund further research of Avian Bornavirus.
We thank you for your consideration and time!
