I'm launching my first book called Bus Stop Dreams!
Would you please join me in making this dream a reality? You can PRE-ORDER your book right NOW just in time for my first official book-signing which will be held at Borderlands Brewery on Thursday, December 11th in Tucson, Arizona from 5pm to 9pm.
Bus Stop Dreams is a photography project I began in the summer of 2013 as a reminder to follow my own dreams of becoming a full-time life event photographer. I approached people at bus stops, asking them where they are going and most importantly, where would they like to go in their future. The participants' words are accompanied by portraits I took of them. Using public transit as a metaphor, Bus Stop Dreams is a book that I hope inspires all of us to create the life we wish to have both individually and collectively.
Here is a sample of an interview I did:
Where are you going?
“I'm heading home after working. I'm a program manager for a defense company. We create robots for the military which hopefully saves lives.”
What are your hopes for your future?
“One of my biggest concerns is about the quality of education in our country. We need to help our kids understand the importance of becoming educated in finances, science and technology. Most of the people in those fields today are from other countries.”
Do you have kids? If so what are your dreams for their future?
“Yes, I have two children, a son who is 5 and a daughter who is 2 years old. For myself, I want to be a good citizen and transfer that to my kids.”
I'm self-publishing this book in three standard landscape (10x8) formats: hard-cover, soft-cover and an e-book.
The book is 80 pages and contains images and interviews of over 50 people. As the book is self-published, the cost per book is higher than what I prefer and as such, my retail mark-up will be small, less than 10%. Once the book is available on Amazon, the prices will be $45 for the soft cover and $54 for the hard-cover.
Your pre-order now (whether you live in Tucson or around the world!) will help me with my goal to purchase between 50-100 each of the soft and hard cover books. You are playing a significant role in helping me produce the book for the first time. I am also hopeful to make large prints to hang on the walls during the book-signing.
While any amount is gratefully received, I'm offering the following thank you gifts and incentives:
$45 Soft cover book (regular retail)
$54 Hard cover book (regular retail)
These incentives help me produce more books and prints to have available at the book-signing:
$100 Hard cover book with a personalized message and autograph
$150 One copy EACH of the hard and soft cover book both with personalized message and autograph
$200 One copy EACH of the hard and soft cover book both with personalized message and autograph, an 8x12 print from the Bus Stop Dreams series
$250 One copy EACH of the hard and soft cover book both with personalized message and autograph, an 8x12 print from the Bus Stop Dreams series, and a free $50 dream interpretation by Veronica Phillips of IAP Consultants
Thank you so much for your support of my dream to become a full-time life event photographer.
